NEW RESOURCES

Evangelism is not as hard as you think. Stuart Robinson, the National Mission Facilitator, has a monthly column with ideas, tips and resources for everyday use.

Time to Grow: Doing Church Differently.  Fresh Expressions Australia has produced a 12 page booklet designed to help parishes start fresh expressions of church.  Designed in an open and accessible format, this booklet should get discussion going as your parish finds the road to doing church a little differently.  For further information, please see the Fresh Expressions Australia page and website.

PRAYER AND LITURGICAL MATERIAL

Prayer is essential to living well.  Corporate prayer is a feature of Anglican life. It allows the whole church to join together in thanksgiving, intercession and petition.  A variety of source material is now available.

Broughton Publishing is the official publishing arm of the Anglican Church of Australia.  If you're looking for new liturgical resources or service cards, a full list of material is available.

The Liturgy Commission has released a range of liturgies for use on a trial and supplementary basis.  It increasingly provides a wealth of advice about how to use such material and will make occassional prayers available from time to time. Feedback on these texts is most welcome.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Centrelink income assessment of clergy. A new briefing paper prepared by NARU explains how Centrelink assess income and benefits provided to clergy. The paper provides comprehensive explanations and practical examples about how Centrelink policy applies to the remuneration of Anglican clergy. Download here.

Clergy Remuneration Guidelines. The 2005 Guidelines for the remuneration of parish clergy and lay ministers developed by the National Anglican Resources Unit and the Standing Committee of General Synod are now available...more.

Travel Insurance for Authorised General Synod Travel. The General Synod is a member of the Anglican National Insurance Plan. One of the covers included in that plan is Travel Insurance. From 2006 the relevant arrangements will be handled in the General Synod Office. If you have any queries with regard to the General Synod Travel Insurance arrangements, please get in touch with Ms Zenda Curran on 02 8267 2700.  For documentation, please see our forms page.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS RESOURCES

The Professional Standards Commission has made available a range of resources and material to the Church nationally.  This includes the code for personal behaviour and the practice of pastoral ministry by clergy and church workers called Faithfulness in Service. The 4th Edition of Faithfulness in Service was approved by the Standing Committee of General Synod in October 2006.  A discussion guide (March 2006) is also available.

The Commission released a model system for the selection and accreditation of lay parish church workers in October 2006.  It released guidelines for the supervision of known or suspected abusers in December 2006.  The matter of private confessions, as addressed by the Anglican Bishops' Conference in 2006, may also be found here.
